VINTAGE - 2023
VARIETY - Grenache/Shiraz/Mataro
REGION - Clare Valley

Vineyard

Sourced from three distinctive and carefully selected sites across the Clare Valley, this GSM is a true representation of terroir. The Grenache comes from 60-year-old vines in Watervale, the Shiraz is drawn from our Atlas White Hut Vineyard, and the Mataro is from mature vines in the northern Clare Valley. Each vineyard contributes its own personality — together the blend forms a carefully crafted mosaic of place, history and character.

Winemaking

Hand-picked fruit was gently de-stemmed into small open fermenters, allowing wild fermentation and light pigeage to reveal each variety’s character. After 12 months in seasoned French oak hogsheads, the components were carefully brought together. The goal was simple: to create a wine where Grenache’s lifted red fruit, Shiraz’s depth, and Mataro’s subtle savoury notes sit together naturally, like pieces of a mosaic. The final blend — 54% Grenache, 40% Shiraz, 6% Mataro — is balanced, expressive, and distinctly Clare Valley, a wine that feels complete without needing to conform to any particular style.

The Wine

Ruby red with purple highlights, the 2023 Clare Valley GSM is vibrant and inviting, with lifted aromas of cherry, raspberry and dark berry compote, threaded with hints of white pepper, rose petal and subtle earthy spice. The palate is mid-weight yet generous, with juicy satsuma plum, blackberry and red currant layered over soft, silky tannins and bright, balancing acidity. Each variety brings its own charm, yet together they form something greater than the sum of their parts — a wine that flows effortlessly, lingering on the finish and drawing you back for another sip. Expressive, harmonious, and utterly drinkable.
